About Me

Hello I'm Sarah, founder of Calming the Storm.  I'm passionate about children's mental health and wellbeing, and ensuring  those children who have experienced trauma receive the very best care and support.

I qualified as a primary school teacher 17 years ago and have worked in a range of schools across the north-west and north-east of England as a class teacher, SENDCo, Designated Safeguarding Lead, Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, PSHE and RSE Lead, Senior Mental Health Lead and Head Teacher.  I've also had further training in supporting children's emotional wellbeing through ELSA, Thrive and the Anna Freud Centre.

I am also a mum by adoption and bring my own personal experiences as well as opportunities for training to my work.

I am always seeking ways to improve my own knowledge and practice and am currently training to become a Child and Young People Psychotherapist.
